Academic Year 2019-2020
Year 2 had a fantastic immersion day to introduce their new topic 'Home or Away'. They learnt an African dance, a Welsh folk dance and also how to use an African drum. Bendigedig effort everybody!
Our visit to Whitchurch Fire Station
2NM Immersion Day to celebrate their new topic Heroic Heroes. Gwych effort Pawb!
Year 2 collaborated with Year 5 pupils during our Eisteddfod celebrations this year. Pupils worked together to create some wonderful daffodil hand print paintings. Ardderchog effort pawb!
2NM enjoyed a calming yoga session in P.E this week. Ffantasteg effort everybody!
We wanted to learn more about the role of a firefighter so we visited our local fire station. Diolch yn fawr to the brave firefighters who inspired our young heroes! Bendigedig enthusiasm 2NM!
2NM looked bendigedig in their heroic hero costumes. We had such a fun day making LUSH potions, investigating materials using our super senses and we discussed what we would like to learn in our new topic. Da lawn effort!

Tesco! 👍🏼
We loved our visit to Tesco Western Avenue last week! We had great fun learning about how food gets from farm to fork! We got to go in the bakery and learn how bread is made, we took a visit to the fish counter and learnt about different fish - we even got to try some prawns, cockles and lavabread - yummy. Follow this we took a visit to the cheese counter - this was our favourite. We tried lots of different cheese - Smoked Applewood was by far our favourite 😋 Finally, after visiting the fruit and vegetable section we took a visit to the enormous fridge and got to go inside - it was SO cold!!!!!

Spring Term Fun !
This term we have looked at work by Andy Warhol and have made some of our own Pop Art creations ! We used maths skills to dive the paper equally, did perfect observational drawings and then traced to create a repeating pattern. We used iPads and laptops to create digital pop art and looked at effective contrasting colours !

Supermarkets!
We took some important research about the shops in Whitchurch village! We used a tally and pictogram to collect our information and then use our super ICT skills to put the information into bar charts and pie charts !
Super Potions
2RB had so much fun mixing and measuring our own superhero potions 😁 We had lots of supplies of Hulk's snot, Batmans blood, Spidermans tears and Supermans sweat!!! By using our magical maths measuring skills and correctly measured each ingredient we created an invisibility potion, a strength potion and a super speed potion !
Super Learning!!
We have loved our superheroes topic this term! We received exciting news from Marvel Entertainment, created comics, completed science investigations, collected data, became digital wizards and learnt to draw the Marvel way!

Mike Collins Visit
We were very lucky to have world renowned cartoonist, Mike Collins, come in and see us !
We learnt so much about Mike's talent and also got to pick up some super tips for drawing our own superheroes !

Christmas 2015!
We had a wonderful last week in 2RB ! After working very hard this first term we enjoyed our Christmas party where we played games, ate party food and even had a special visit from Santa!

Our topic this term was 'Remember Remember' . We wrote some amazing firework poems, looked at fire engines past and present, learnt about Guy Fawkes, researched The Great Fire of London and became Samuel Pepys and recorded events in our own diaries! As well as all that we really took care to peer assess each other's work and share some of our thoughts!

2RB was full of superheros, sporting heros and spotty clothing just like Pudsey!

End of Topic Rich Learning Tasks!
This week we finished our first topic of year 2, 'Big Wide World'.
We completed lots of fun activities for our rich learning tasks. Firstly we found out our favourite places in Wales to visit, we also researched different aspects of Wales, we created a leaflet each about Wales and finally we made some yummy Welsh food!!
2RB were responsible for making Vegetable Welsh Cawl - we LOVED it

Big Wide World: Bute Park School Trip
We had lots of fun visiting Bute Park on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th September!
We searched for Gerry, had a mini-beast hunt, did some orienteering and became busy bees collecting pollen!
