In Maths this week we are learning to:
- Add 10, 20 or 30 to a 2 digit number
- Make different amounts using 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 coins
- 5 times tables
- Doubling 2 digit numbers

Here are some of our activities in Year 2.
Gweithgareddau amrywiol Blwyddyn 2.
Our Year 2 Sherman Dance Troupe performed amazingly at the Cardiff Dance Festival held at the Sherman Theatre! We are very proud of you all! Bendigedig!
On World Book Day we had a visit from the Boots Opticians Literacy Truck! What fun!
We enjoyed our tennis coaching session! Arbennig!
We enjoyed dressing up as our favourite animal from the Brazilian Rainforest! Cawsom hwyl!
Year 2 have been learning about Brazil as part of
our international links with the country.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Puzzlewood. More pictures can be found on our individual class pages.

We have been learning about electrical circuits. Can you light the bulb?

We visited Tesco Extra on Western Avenue as part of the 'Farm to Fork' project and learned all about where our food comes from. More pictures can be found on our individual class pages.
Sherman dancers
We dressed as red as we could to raise money for Comic Relief 2015.

Mrs Skeggs, Mr Newcombe and Miss Owen also enjoyed Red Nose Day!
We thoroughly enjoyed our country dancing session with Mrs Gulliford. Cawsom hwyl yn dysgu sut i Ddawnsio Gwerin!
THE LEGEND OF DINAS EMRYS
We learned about The Legend of Dinas Emrys and why there is a red dragon on the Welsh flag.
Eisteddfod 2015
The Foundation Phase Eisteddfod Chair was this year won by Henry Boothroyd of 2CN for writing The Legend of Dinas Emrys. Llongyfarchiadau Henry.
Year 2 have been busy making Art & Crafts for our Eisteddfod. Dyma gwaith Celf a Chrefft Blwyddyn 2!
We had a visit from the Mad Scientists!
We took part in a Maths workshop with Techniquest!
Children in Year 2 performed 'A Christmas Recipe' in 2014. Da iawn bawb!
We visited Heol Don Residential and Nursing Home to sing some songs from our Christmas performance! We enjoyed meeting the residents.
We performed 'Christmas Wrapped Up' at Bethel Baptist Church, Whitchurch
A Police Officer came to speak to Year 2 about keeping safe.
Year 2 had a visit from Pudsey Bear for Children in Need! Croeso i Flwyddyn 2 Pudsey!
We had a visit from Whitchurch Fire Station and we learned about fire safety.
We learned about Rememberance Day.
As part of our Big Wide World Context for Learning we visited Bristol Zoo to see the animals from around the world and found interesting facts about them.
We thoroughly enjoyed a music workshop with Nerys from Forte Music. Diolch yn fawr Nerys!
We've been using the iPads to research about Wales. Rydym yn ymchwilio am Gymru ym Mlwyddyn 2!
We visited Bute Park as part of our learning from the book 'Gerry's Story'. We worked with the RSPB and were explorers for the day! Dyna hwyl!
We have been busy designing African patterns as part of our Big Wide World context! Bendigedig!
2013/14 Academic Year
We organised a wonderful Woodland Party for Princess Dandelion as part of our Rich Learning Task. Dyna hwyl!
Year 2 had a visit from international footballer Gareth Bale!

We made fruit kebabs using Fair Trade fruit as part of Eco Week!!
All children in Year 2 are fortunate to receive weekly dance lessons with Rubicon. Here are the children from Year 2 who represented our school by dancing on stage at the Sherman Theatre. What an excellent performance, we're very proud of all of you! Da iawn chi!
Cartoonist visits Year 2
We had a visit from famous cartoonist Mike Collins who draws for many famous comics including Marvel, Dr Who, Harry Potter and many more! Mr. Collins showed us how to draw superheroes!
We had fun making and tasting our healthy fruit smoothies!
We had a visit from the Osprey's Rugby Team! Daeth Y Gweilch i Flwyddyn 2
Year 2 were very fortunate to have a visit from some of the Ospreys rugby team who came to speak with the children about the importance of healthy eating and regular excercise.
The children also enjoyed a rugby skills session with Andrew Hore, Joe Bearman and Duncan Jones.

Saint Dwynwen's day is celebrated in Wales on January 25th every year. Dwynwen is the Welsh Saint of love, similar to Saint Valentine.
Rydym yn dathlu diwrnod Santes Dwynwen ar y 25ain o Ionawr bob blwyddyn. Dwynwen ydy Santes cariadon Cymru.
We made Santes Dwynwen cards. Edrychwch ar ein cardiau.
We love reading in Year 2! The children have helped design a new reading area for the Foundation Phase! Mae darllen yn hwyl!

We enjoyed our Fire Station role play in Year 2! Dyna beth oedd hwyl!
