Our Vision, Values and Motto

Creating a happy, inclusive and high-achieving school for all

At Whitchurch Primary School, we believe that children flourish when they feel happy, included, and valued. Our vision, values and motto guide everything we do — shaping our culture, informing our decisions, and uniting us as a school community.

These shared principles underpin our commitment to nurturing every child, celebrating their individuality, and helping them to reach their full potential. They also drive our continuous journey of school improvement — ensuring the best possible standards, provision and outcomes for every learner.

Our Vision

Ein Gweledigaeth

"At Whitchurch Primary School we aim to deliver a stimulating, exciting and challenging curriculum. We empower children to lead their learning, become independent thinkers and achieve high standards. We will develop learning attitudes that will stay with them for life."

This vision sits at the heart of our work. It reflects our belief in creating an inspiring, supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive, not just academically, but socially and emotionally too.

We prepare our pupils for lifelong success by supporting them to become:

  • Enterprising, Creative Contributors – curious, imaginative and able to express themselves

  • Ambitious, Capable Learners – confident in their abilities, always striving to improve

  • Ethical, Informed Citizens – aware of their world, respectful of others and ready to make a difference

  • Healthy, Confident Individuals – resilient, self-aware, and proud of who they are

These four core purposes guide us in developing a curriculum and school experience that is both meaningful and future-focused.

Our Values

What we stand for – and how we live it every day

At Whitchurch Primary, our values are more than words, they shape how we teach, how we learn, and how we treat one another. They help to build a culture of respect, ambition, care and inspiration across our whole school community.

Value

What it means to us

Respect

We value every child’s voice, rights and identity. We promote kindness, fairness and inclusion in all we do.

Achieve

We set high expectations for all, and support every learner to reach their personal best. Effort, perseverance and progress are also celebrated through the work with our ‘Learning Heroes’.

Care

We look after ourselves, each other and our environment. Wellbeing and compassion are central to school life.

Inspire

We nurture curiosity and creativity. We empower children to take ownership of their learning and aim high.

These values are reflected in daily classroom life, assemblies, relationships and decision-making. They are also central to how we work in partnership with families to support each child’s development.

Our Aims

What we want for every child

Our school aims help us to bring our vision and values to life. They define what we want our learners to experience and achieve during their time at Whitchurch Primary, shaping not just the curriculum, but the culture and climate of our school.

We aim for all our learners to:

  • Feel safe and valued as part of a caring and inclusive school community

  • Be polite and courteous, treating others with respect

  • Think creatively, critically and independently

  • Be confident risk takers, willing to try new things and learn from mistakes

  • Be inspired by learning heroes and develop ambition for themselves

  • Understand and respect diversity in our local and global communities

These aims reflect our commitment to the whole child, nurturing not only academic excellence and outcomes, but also character, confidence and compassion.

Our Motto

‘Work Together – Play Together – Succeed Together’

‘Gweithio, Chwarae a Llwyddo Gyda’n Gilydd’

Our school motto is the thread that runs through everything we do. It is simple, powerful and shared by every member of our school community, from pupils and staff to families and governors.

It reflects the inclusive, happy and aspirational spirit of Whitchurch Primary:

  • Work Together – We believe in the power of teamwork, collaboration and community. By working together (staff, children and parents), we build stronger relationships and better outcomes.

  • Play Together – Play is essential for learning, wellbeing and building friendships. We foster a culture where children feel joy, creativity and belonging in their everyday school experience.

  • Succeed Together – Success means something different for every child. We celebrate all achievements, big and small, and strive to ensure every pupil makes progress and feels proud.

Our motto also inspires and challenges us to keep improving, because we know that when we work, play and succeed together, we create a truly inclusive, nurturing and high-achieving school.

Working in Partnership with Parents and the Community

We know that the strongest outcomes happen when schools and families work in partnership. By sharing our vision, values and motto with you, we hope to build a sense of shared purpose- one that supports your child’s learning journey and creates a thriving community for all.

Together, we can ensure that Whitchurch Primary is a place where every child feels safe, shines brightly, and is ready for the future.
